Getting ready for winter, and getting things in order

Sep 8th, 2008

Well, I'm definitely nesting!  I've been spending my time working on cleaning out closets, throwing things out, cleaning out the garage, etc.  This weekend was mostly about cleaning out my garden beds and preparing them for winter!  I want them to be nice, clean and ready to plant when spring comes without a lot of prep!!  I worked on my mosaic back splash too, but I didn't get enough done to warrant a new picture yet.

What with school and soccer starting back up again, a toddler doing potty training, and a baby on the way, things are busy, busy, busy around here!!

I've also been moving my store items over from Ecrater to Etsy. I really like Ecrater, and the concept, but I simply do not have the time to do the self promotion necessary to make it work, so I'm going to pay a little more and have Etsy do some of that promotion for me.

Once I get everything moved, I'll be changing the site links over… and I'll also be working on yet another fresh look for the entire website as well.  In the meantime, stop over at Etsy and see what's there so far!  Have fun!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

I told you recently that we were taking a break from the animal husbandry/farming but that I would be continuing with the store.  I wanted to expand on that a bit as I've been thinking a lot about where to go from here.

One of my life philosophies has always been to learn something new every day.  Hunger to learn has always been a part of my life, and I think it makes things exciting and keeps you sharp!  That means I am interested in a lot of different things at any given time.

As much as I dearly love the world of textile arts and the fiber community, I've often felt restricted (self imposed) to only talking about just those subjects on the blog. Well, I've decided to expand things here a bit, and I am feeling great about it.  I'm going to take you a little further into my brain from here, and just talk about whatever I feel like, when I feel like it.  How's that!?  :D  I think it's going to be great fun!!

Of course, I'll still be involved in the fiber world, and the store will still go on although the breadth of craft type items in there will probably expand at some point depending on whatever it is that I'm into at the time, but it will be nice to get to spread my wings here instead of feeling so compartmentalized and having to express my other varied interests in other places.

Are you ready for it? I sure am!!

The Frenzy Still Remains

Well, we finished (99.99%) the cleaning in my daughters room.  All told, it was 10 of the large black trash bags moved out of there!  Her room isn't even that big.  I have no idea how she managed to hold that much junk in there!

Part of the cleaning was weeding out clothing she couldn't wear anymore to go to the local mission.  I was bagging all of that pile up yesterday and came across her Easter dress from a couple of years ago, and the fabric was just too cute, so I couldn't let it go.

Instead, we have….. throw pillows for her newly-livable again room! I think they turned out really cute, and it probably took all of 20 minutes to cut the skirt off of the dress and make them, so well worth it!

Don't forget that we still have all of the Warm & Wearable winter items marked down in our store to make room for Spring & Summer goodies to come.  Be sure to stop by and stock up for next Fall & Winter!
