I came across this artist a while ago and wanted to share.  Sadly, I don't think she has updated her blog in some time, but her work is beautiful!  You've got to give it a look!! Her work is amazing and beautiful!  I so need to learn how to make these!!

Sock Wars III - So Cool!!

Apr 7th, 2008

Where have I been the last 2 years that I did not know about Sock Wars????

"Welcome to the original and bloodiest death-by-knitting tournament.

Sock Wars III kicks off on 9th May 2008 and will run until only one blood-soaked champion remains.  Over 1,000 knitters around the world have already signed up - are you brave enough to do battle with them til the death?

If you ARE brave enough sign up to do battle you will be emailed a top secret assassination dossier on 9th May 2008.  This file contains the details of your target and an exclusive, never-been-published-before knitting pattern with which assassinate them.

To kill your target you must knit them a pair of socks in the pattern (your "weapon") and mail it to them.  Once your target receives your parcel they are dead and must post their death on the website.

They must also send you details of their intended target (who becomes your next person to assassinate) along with their unfinished knitting (which becomes your new weapon).

All the while this is going on, someone has been assigned YOU as their target!

Prepare to live in fear… kill or be killed!"

I'm pretty sure this is the coolest knitting thing ever. For real.  I am tempted to sign up because it sounds like so much fun and I'm competitive like that, but realistically I know I just don't have the time….. Although, I do knit a mean sock, and knit it fast too!

If you want to participate, go here to sign up:  http://sockwarsiii.memberlodge.org/
This is AWESOME.  Maybe next year I'll be able to do it.

Lady Linoleum and the Vegetable Liberation Army

Jun 4th, 2005
One of the very best parts of my work in fiber and the fiber arts is meeting COOL people. Alpaca fiber introduced me to Tien. I've met dozens of cool knitters and spinners at Meetups and whatnot. Even eBay has introduced me to new friends who aren't even customers - they just noticed we live in the same area and took time to write and introduce themselves!! How cool is that?? Now hand painted merino has introduced me to Regina.

Regina is the artist and genius behind the Vegetable Liberation Army, and her medium is crochet. Now I know there's the whole West Side Story, Bloods vs. Crips thing between Knitters and Crocheters - Me use sticks, You use hooks, we raise our NOSES TO YOU!!, etc., etc. But you have not seen crochet until you've seen Regina's work. This is like Veggie Tales on crack AND meth!!

If you do nothing else today, go check out Monster Crochet. Be sure to click the link to read the blog too after you've seen the VLA. It's totally FABU!
