Funky, or just plain fugly?

Feb 25th, 2008

This little gem is one I've pulled out of the closet off and on for probably 2 years or so now.  When I have a collection of short skeins of yarn, I grab an assortment of crochet hooks, knitting needles, and a handful of boredom and restlessness and go at it!

I've always loved crazy quilts, and I think this is veering roughly in the same direction, only with yarn instead of fabrics.  What it will be once I decide it's "done", I just don't know yet.  Right now it's pretty darn ugly, but I have hope that once it's a larger body of crazy, it will be more quirky and funky than ugly!

After a weekend celebrating my daughter's birthday with a squealing gaggle of 11 year old, boy-crazy girls, this was all that I had the mental capacity to put my hand to! I felt like my brains had been melted after a day long pre-teen celebration!!  haha!

The Frenzy Still Remains

Well, we finished (99.99%) the cleaning in my daughters room.  All told, it was 10 of the large black trash bags moved out of there!  Her room isn't even that big.  I have no idea how she managed to hold that much junk in there!

Part of the cleaning was weeding out clothing she couldn't wear anymore to go to the local mission.  I was bagging all of that pile up yesterday and came across her Easter dress from a couple of years ago, and the fabric was just too cute, so I couldn't let it go.

Instead, we have….. throw pillows for her newly-livable again room! I think they turned out really cute, and it probably took all of 20 minutes to cut the skirt off of the dress and make them, so well worth it!

Don't forget that we still have all of the Warm & Wearable winter items marked down in our store to make room for Spring & Summer goodies to come.  Be sure to stop by and stock up for next Fall & Winter!

The Tortoise Wins!

Finally, this stupid hat is done and I can move on to something else.  All those monotonous rows of straight knitting over, and over and over again… I was feeling like it would never end.

Here's the other thing too - I didn't have the correct size of circular or double-points, so I used what I had, and it came out toddler sized!  Oh well… That's (most of) one more ball of yarn out of the closet and turned into something useful.  Goodness knows I have enough toddlers in my life to find a little person who can wear it!
