Dig if you will Part V

Mar 29th, 2005

A Continuation of:  Dig if you will a picture… / Dig if you will Part II / Dig if you will Part III / Dig if you will Part IV

From here on out, I don’t think I’m going to include the chart. What really matters is the item, and frankly - scanning the chart is kind of annoying, plus the colors never really came out the way I would have liked.

So…. Prince now has not only a nose, but sunglasses, eyes, and partial eyebrows!! I’ve only got 28 more rows left to go which I’m figuring at about 4-4.5 hours more of knitting left before the fun stuff of lining and embellishing starts!!.

Prince bag - nearly done with the intarsia!!

I hope by Monday to have the final pre-felting picture for you! I’m getting more excited by the minute as I see the end of this infernal intarsia nearing!!

And another thing….

Mar 29th, 2005

I can’t believe it’s been a week since I posted. What can I say - the long Easter weekend got away from me. I hope you all had a great one!! Now, that’s not to say that I haven’t been busy though!

For one thing…. I had a chance to sit down with my knit picks catalog finally. Guess what I saw? Wanna know? Does THIS look familiar????

Their version Perchance it looks a whole lot like THIS????My original

Could it be… HMMMMM the hat I made back in December with no pattern? My design? Me thinks the Filatura Di Crosa people are thieves! I’m ticked. I should have copyrighted. Guess I’ve learned my lesson. However - on the happier side of life, a lucky spinning eBayer won all 3 of the auctions I had going for alpaca, and the concord and fire mo…. then she bought me out of everything I had! Lucky girl - it’s beautiful stuff! I’m sure she will give it a good home.

I also met a really astounding woman (whose link I’ve added on the left) named Tien. This lady spins 9,000-10,000 yards per pound!! YES - that’s THOUSANDS! And usually about 100 wraps per inch!! Can you even believe that? And I thought my measly 3,000 YPP was pretty good! Anyway - she makes these fabulous lace shawls from this thread she spins - and the finished object is delicate enough that it just slips through a ring. I believe she said the diameter of the shawl was 80″. If that doesn’t amaze you, nothing will. Plus she’s just all around cool. Seems there is nothing that she could not say “been there, done that, conquered” to. Be sure to take a look at her site - especially the crafts section for that beautiful shawl.

For MY next trick - I’ll be knitting with fish tubing, beads and fishing lures. Keep watching for more details.

Great Stuff on eBay & my Fire Mo

Mar 22nd, 2005

For the next couple of weeks, I’m going to be listing on eBay the beautiful orange and purple mohair locks you’ve seen here AND some baby alpaca fiber too!

Go here to see what’s currently live: Fiber-Fancies eBay Auctions.  Right now, I’m spinning up the bit of purple that I saved for myself, so I don’t have it to show just yet, but take a look at how the Fire Mo looks spun up:

Before    After

I have two skeins available in the store right now and probably enough to spin up one more 2 oz skein! Gorgeous, huh?
