It's Thanksgiving Day and there are so many things to be thankful for:
We can be thankful for the sheep, goats and alpacas that allow us to wrangle them into submission and take their fiber so that we can make beautiful knitted items. We can be thankful for the beautiful trees that grow such lovely woods to be turned by skilled craftsmen into needles, wheels and spindles for our craft. I hate to say it - we can be thankful for the cold weather seasons that give us opportunities to display our crafts as a walking, talking tribute to our creativity and hard work.
Today, we can also be thankful for the friends and family who give us an excuse to knit MORE and who wear all of our craft on their own bodies - whether they actually like it or not, without saying anything to us if they don't, because they love us.
Most of all we can be thankful to the God that created the sheep, goats, alpacas, trees, winter time season, and our friends, family and loved ones. We can be thankful for His laws that rule the universe. If Adam and Eve had not had any standards to live by when they took the forbidden fruit, they would not have had any reason to ever don a sash spun and woven from nature! (Which reminds me too that we must never be ungrateful for all of the other plant life besides trees, that allow our garments to be turned to beautiful colors!)
Knit on, Spin on, Fiber friends! But never forget all of the reasons that we have our craft, and the One who gave us the tools, the reasons and the skillful hands to create with!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day today!
