Lo and Behold…. PROGRESS!!

Oct 29th, 2004

Today I came home from work, and rubbing my eyes - I DID SEE IT! Work being done to get our modest barn in order for the Alpaca’s coming home soon!! Whooo Hoooo!! Now my daughter for some reason (and not sure why Daddy didn’t stop her) was wearing a full winter coat (not necessary) and summer sandals (completely inappropriate). She did make a point to announce to me “Mommy! Mommy! I stepped in poop today!” Well, Whah Hooo! Glad to come home to that!!

But in spite of all the madness, I’m delighted to see the barn getting the work done on it. This means that the girls really ARE coming home soon!

Here’s a couple of pics of the “workers”. Note in the picture of Mike, that Anne made a point of standing up for peace in the bottom corner of the frame.

From Leftovers Comes…. Uh, Stuff

Oct 27th, 2004

I just can’t stand to let leftover little bits sit and collect. I have to do something with them. So I finished the baby sets (see below) and had nearly a whole skein of the Bernat Limeade left over. I asked my 15 yr old son if there’s anything he would want made out of that yarn and he says, “fingerless gloves!”. What? Ok, whatever.

So here they are in all their garishness:
Lime Green Fingerless Madonna Gloves

I think they are pretty wacky, but he’s happy with them, and darn it, that’s what counts!! My DH was ever so impressed. The last 2 days since I finished them, we’ve all been treated to a full retrospective of Madonna hits from the 80’s.

But guess what? There is STILL more Limeade left!! I’m now working on a pair of socks using left over purple from part of the baby blankets I’m working on, and using the last bits of the Limeade to polka-dot them!! Can’t wait to show you those!! They are lookin’ pretty cute so far! Once I finish that, I will finally feel free to move back onto my *real* projects, with my bits of waste successfully used up!

Do It Yourself: Knitty Gritty

Oct 26th, 2004
Do It Yourself: Knitty GrittyI caught this show by accident last night on the DIY network and was SO excited. It’s on past my bed-time so I guess that’s how I had never seen it before. That, and as far as the DH is concerned, our telly only tunes in to sweaty men tossing various assortments of balls around and getting dirty and smelly. I’m not sure if he knows that he can see other kinds of moving pictures too. . .

At any rate, I was SO inspired!! I was immediately making a list of all the bizarro things around the house that I could mix together and toss onto a couple of sticks to make all kinds of interesting knit items!! Who would have thought it - shopping at the hardware store for knitting goods!!

It’s a great show! I found that the web-site was NOT so hot, but the show rocked! Check it out!
